New England VoIP is a blossoming hosted voice communications start-up in the North East region. With several decades worth of experience, a group of ex-consultants came together to build a company that offers phone systems for businesses of all sizes. The key difference between their services and a regular phone is how the phone call gets to your business. Whereas traditional phones use high-priced wiring, VoIP routes your phone calls straight to your telephone using a high speed internet connection.
The Content Group worked closely with NE VoIP as their SEO auditors and on-page problem solvers. Over the course of a couple days, we overhauled virtually every aspect of their search engine optimization and offered the best recommendations for their upcoming AdWords and SEO campaigns.
The NJ SEO Company Goes to New England:
Okay, we’re fibbing a bit. We didn’t actually go to Massachusetts, but we did branch out of the New Jersey SEO market by working with their team.
We see partnering with a client’s team members as an opportunity to do even more amazing work. By integrating with our new clients we are able to create an experience that is seamless. Nicole Montano of New England VoIP offered unparalleled communication throughout the process which enabled us to extend our expertise even further. Whereas other SEO agencies become burdened by egos, we’re thrilled to embrace collaboration and communication.

Increased Speed:
You can tell from the image above that New England VoIP was suffering from extremely slow load times. Google has indicated in the past that site speed is one of the signals used to rank pages. A slow page speed, in addition to affecting your overall position on the SERPs, means that search engines crawl fewer pages using the allocated crawl budget. In other words, it negatively affects your indexation.
While extremely important for search engines, you shouldn’t forget that it’s also important to the user experience. How many times have you clicked on a website and then left because it was too slow? We imagine it’s happened more than once. Pages with a longer load time have higher bounce rates and a lower average time on page. This means that you have fewer chances to convert your audience
Enable compression
Using Lightroom, we downloaded all images on the site and compressed them to a more manageable size. This way we were able to retain control over the quality of the images. We were also able to control what file format was used when we reuploaded them to NE VoIP (PNGs are better for graphics and JPEGs are better for photographs).
Minify CSS, JavaScript, and HTML
By optimizing their code, we were able to dramatically increase page speed (see image below). For this action we used the plugin Autoptimize (which removes spaces, commas, code comments, and other unnecessary characters).
Reduce redirects
Lastly, NE VoIP had a fairly large number of redirects. Each time their pages redirects to another page, they were forcing their visitor to sit while the HTTP request-response cycle to completed.

A Flawless Victory for On-Page SEO:
When you just start working on a website without fulling understanding search engine optimization, you can create a lot of errors and inconsistencies without even thinking. This is what happened on the New England VoIP website. Prior to The Content Group fixing the on-page issues, they suffered from:
- 8 pages with duplicate meta descriptions
- 8 pages with zero content (sample pages from their theme)
- 4 posts with zero content (sample posts)
- 8 pages with low text-HTML ratio
- 33 other minor errors
We worked to create a seamless on-page SEO experience that is fully ready for NE VoIP to undertake their planned search and paid campaigns.
